Our governing body

Our members elect a Governing Body to oversee our work and to make sure that Tower Hamlets CCG plans, buys and manages health services as safely and efficiently as possible.

Our Governing Body is made up of eight GPs, elected by primary care staff in each of our local networks, to ensure a strong and consistent clinical input into the commissioning process. This also means that the people that deal with the day-to-day health and care needs of the people of Tower Hamlets play a key role in CCG decision-making.

It also includes a practice nurse, a practice manager, a secondary care consultant, a registered nurse and three NHS senior managers. It is supported by three lay members (for governance, patient and public involvement, and corporate affairs).

To further support partnership working, our Governing Body also includes Tower Hamlets Borough Council's Director of Public Health and its Corporate Director Health, Adults & Community London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

It meets in public every two months to set the overall strategic direction and address major policy issues for the organisation. The public may attend and listen to the discussions. At each meeting, those attending will be given the opportunity to ask questions that are directly related to the agenda items under discussion that day.
